Someday soon?

In the past couple of days, Colter has managed to get up on his hands and knees and rock back and forth. I realize that this may be a lame thing to be excited about, but I just can't help myself. I have not actually witnessed this, but I have been informed by the sitter and Al. Perhaps, they are in cohorts together, and are playing a mean joke on me. I am pretty sure that is not the case though. Anyhow, I think this may mean that he just might crawl soon?. I know I probably will regret it later, but I am really hoping he will.

I also think we may be getting closer to having a tooth. Of course, Colter still drools like mad, but I think that I see a little white in there, and his gums are swollen. I can also feel something, but I cannot be 100% sure.

FYI- This is basically the first time I have ever been around a baby. I was not a baby person before, because they scared me to death. Tanner did not come into my life until he was 2 1/2, so I missed out on his baby days. At that time, 2 1/2 was scary enough to me. Yes, I did do a lot of babysitting when I was younger, but that was almost always for older kids. A friend of mine teased that she wanted to see me holding my baby when he came. Apparently, she was not impressed with the way I plopped her first son on my hip and asked why his head was bobbing around. (Give me a break! That was almost 5 years ago. Geesh!) So if you ever wondered to yourself why I am so freaky about the baby stuff, hopefully that enlightens you a bit.

Have a great Thursday! One more day till Friday!!!!

The DE-Animalation Derby

Welcome to the DE-Animalation Derby! Today's race should be a good one folks. Some of the area's favorite drivers have come out to participate in today's event.

Sadie "Old Timer" Barks alot is here. She is turning into somewhat of a legend. She holds the most track championships of all our racers today. Sadie has been around for years. When asked if she had plans to retire soon, she said "woof!" Don't look for her to turn in her keys just yet. She will be driving the 4-spotted legs machine today.

Also with us today, is Chopper "The vacuum" Leftovers-please. Chopper has been around for a few years and has won her way into the crowds hearts with her spunky personality and her distractability for food. Hold a crumb in front of her and watch out! Those wheels will burn up the track. I'm not sure what she plans on driving today, but you can bet it will be related to food.

And last but certainly not least, we have an up and coming rookie, who is quickly melting his way into the crowds hearts. Colter "Wild Man" diapered-bottom will be driving his green, orange and blue tot wheels machine. Colter comes from a long line of DE-Animalation Derby drivers. His father was rookie of the year at this track 31 years ago. We asked Colter if he was going to follow in his father's shoes and become this years "rookie of the year." His response?. "Squeal! Ya! Ma! Da!" I am not exactly sure what he was talking about, but I would guess he meant yes.

Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines!

I am a dork

I get excited over the lamest things sometimes. I am totally stoked because Al got my outside water spigot moved and working today. Hooray! I had no idea how much I take those things for granted until the darn thing broke. It is a total pain in the rear to have to run in and out of the house with a watering can. I watered & watered those flowers last night, with perma-grin on my face. I am sure the neighbors probably think I should be in a straight jacket. Heck, I'm starting to agree with them. This lady may be mad.

I am not sure that anything else could be more exciting than that, but there is more. That's right. The lameness is not over with just yet. UBC dropped off the wood for my deck yesterday afternoon. Yippee! I am not as excited about the "oh so manly" tantrums I will most likely have to witness. But I am going to be so grateful when the deck is complete. It will be so nice to have somewhere to hang out, other than inside. I wish I had a magic wand to wave and all of the work ahead of us would be done. Anyone have one I can borrow?

Lowes called on Friday to let us know our stove is in. Very exciting. As much as I love grilled food, it gets old eating the same old things over and over. I am not exactly Miah Crocker, and Al is no Chef-boy-R-Al. The microwave is not my favorite cooking tool either, and fast food gets old really fast. I am not sure when I will get a chance to pick it up though. Hopefully next week. I am taking vacation next week, to get some things done around home. I will be off most of the week. I am also very excited about that. (I know you are all sad, but don't worry. I will try my best to find some time at home to blog.)

I have one more exciting thing to torture you with, and then I will give you a break for today. A couple of years ago, they tore down the church that I was raised in. I was also married in that church and was sad to see it go. They tore it down, to build a new one. Before they tore it down, they were letting people acquire some pews if they were interested. I had always wanted to have a church pew, and thought it would be sentimental to have one from "my" church. However, I did not have the room for one, so that idea was quickly put to bed. This past weekend, my Mother offered me the pew she had got. She does not have the room for it anymore, and I have plenty. It will fit perfectly in my front porch. I am ecstatic! This particular pew actually does have some great memories. At our wedding, my aunts sat in this pew and visited during the pictures. I do not get to see much of them, and one has since passed. The were so happy that day. Thank you Mom!

Happy Tuesday ya'll!

Random thoughts

At Colter's 9 month checkup, the Dr gave me the green light to start on table foods. Being nervous about this, I had to take it slow. I started Colter out with the little puffs and occasionally things from my plate. This past week, I am getting more comfortable with the idea, and have been a little more aggressive. We have had chicken, hamburger, banana's, chocolate pudding, beans, etc. So fun! Just like it all is, at first.

Colter has decided that he does not need our help eating. He wants to do it himself. Fine, but he still has a bit of a hard time getting the food into his mouth. I feel like he is not getting enough to eat. I know I shouldn't worry, but its part of my job.

I was so excited that Colter could walk with me holding his hand, however know the little turkey thinks we should do it all of the time. He will let you know he is not pleased if you don't. My hips are all ready killing me from carrying him around. I am not sure if they can take the constant 90 degree angle.

Diaper changes have become interesting the past couple of days also. I guess someone thinks its funny to squirm all around and make it difficult. One time, it was so bad, that I had to pin him down to get one back on him. I guess that was a hoot, because he really started laughing at me. Unfortunately, I could not resist his powers, and I let him crack right through my irritated state. I couldn't help but cave and play along.

I got a really good laugh the other day. Al looked at Colter and started talking to him in a funny voice. Colter put both of his hands up over his ears and had a funny look on his face. It was so funny, I almost peed my pants. It would be so nice if you could get a warning before moments like these. Then you could catch them on video or picture.

Its Friday!!! I hope you all have a great weekend. Try to stay cool!

Solved!!

Just wanted to let you all know that the mystery behind the missing bright orange binky has been solved. It just so happens that another binky disappeared and as I was bent down looking for that one, the other one magically reappeared. It was in his toy box. Right there in the wide open. Staring me in the face. I never did find the other one though. I think someone is playing games with me.

There is absolutely nothing else to say to day, besides have a super day!

Motherhood Mysteries

I find myself wondering about some of the mysteries surrounding motherhood. The most obvious being the instant change in ones outlook and personality. That in itself is a huge mystery, but almost more of a miracle.

One of the biggest mysteries I am trying to figure out right now, is where on earth did that bright orange binky go? Colter had it at bedtime about 3 weeks ago. During the night he awoke and wanted it again, and I could not find it any where. I have moved his crib, looked under the mattress, dug through his toy box, looked under the dresser, and basically tore his room in half. All of this, at least 50 times. How do you loose a bright orange binky in a 9x13 room?

Tonight I manage to solve one mystery. I had given Colter a bath, and after we were done with baby massage and jammies, I laid him in his crib. That's when I noticed some of his supper in his hair. Wonderful. Fresh from the tub, and now this. As I wiped him up, I wondered how on earth some of his supper got onto the top of his head. He didn't have any signs of it on his face or anywhere else. I got my answer about 15 minutes later.

I got down on all fours to look under my bed for the remote that mysteriously disappeared. As I was down there, I must have put my hand on my hair. When I got up, there was something on my hand. Yep, it was some of Colter's supper. I went to the dresser to get a kleenex to wipe it off. That's when something in the mirror caught my eye. I had more in my hair. Sigh. When I picked Colter up to put him in his crib, he must have deposited the lovely gift in my hair. In return, when I laid him down, I must have deposited some back in his hair. Its a vicious cycle.

This leads me to a third mystery. A year ago, baby supper in my hair would have freaked me out. I would have ran screaming to the bathroom and jumped into the shower immediately. Now, I just lolly gag to the wipes and faucet and wipe it out. If a bird crapped in my hair, I would freak. Baby vomit, doody or drool, aahh, whatever.

Sorry if I made some of you cringe, well not really. He he! Have a great Wednesday!

Watch out world, here I come!

We had a pretty uneventful weekend, which I sooo welcomed. I did a lot of nothing, and it was great. I shouldn't say it was uneventful, it just didn't consist of lots and lots of things I HAD to do. Colter and I just hung out, browsed around some of our local stores, took some naps, and took some short walks.

This past week, Colter has been surprising me with many things. Saturday, I had him sitting in his crib playing with some toys while I was searching for something in his room. When I turned around, he was standing up. Of course, he hasn't yet grasped the concept of hang on or biff it, so back on his butt he went. He managed to pull himself up several more times. All before I could make a mad dash for my camera. Of course, by the time I got back with the camera, he decided he had had enough of that. He was not going to participate in my annoying little let mommy get a picture game.

Luckily, I sometimes think things out ahead of time, and thought may be it would be a good idea just to leave the camera on his dresser. You know, in case there was a next time. And wouldn't you know, because I am such a brainiac, it just so happens, he did it again yesterday. Go baby go! Who knows what he may have in store for me today.

Here's to a great new week! Lets hope!!

Happy Birthday Paula!!!!!!

Relax! Your old, but your not that old! How does it feel to join us old farts in this decade?

Thursday, Thursday, Oh what a day

I like to stay positive on my posts, because I just don't want to be a "Debbie Downer." But today, I am a little bummed. Tanner left for his mom's yesterday. He won't be back until the end of July, beginning of August. Usually, I welcome the break, because it means I can do what ever the heck I want. This year, I feel lonely. There is a big piece of our family missing. Strange. I guess before I was a real mom, I didn't feel quite like a family. I think I kind of felt like the odd man out. Now, I just feel odd with my middle man out. I actually went to Tanner's room a couple of times yesterday, opened the door, looked around, and thought how empty it seemed. I am sure the time will go by fast, but not nearly fast enough.

On a happier note, we had some family visiting from out of state yesterday. There was a small barbecue in their honor and it was great seeing them all again. They also had a little guy last year and we got to meet him for the first time. What a little ham. Of course, I forgot my camera, so I didn't get any pictures. *Note to self--daily planner would help with your CRS. Might want to buy one.* I hope it will not be too long until their next visit. Who knows, if I was convincing enough, may be they will move back this way.

I do not have any huge plans for the weekend. I may have to make some. I hope all of your weekends are great!

100th Post

My 100th post. When I started blogging 4 months ago, I had no idea I would have had 100 things to write about, or that anyone would even find my posts at all interesting, or entertaining. I had tossed the idea around for so long, and just decided to go for it. I originally wanted to start it for my parents as a way for them to know what Colter and the rest of us were up too, and so they could see pictures. Much to my surprise, my parents were not even reading my blog. They are not exactly "techies" and were confused by the whole idea. They eventually figured it out, and now check in from time to time.

I have to admit, I used to think that people with blogs were just arrogant or crazed people who thought that they were so smart or great, that everyone would want to read about them. I thought it was lame. Then a friend of mine started a blog. I in no way thought she was arrogant or crazed (delusional, may be) so I started stopping by her blog weekly. Her blog totally changed my thoughts of the whole blogger world.

I never could have imagined how much I would enjoy this. I have "met" some interesting people and learned more about people I all ready knew. I've been entertained, amused, bored and humbled. It has been great therapy. Thank you to all of my loyal readers, fellow bloggers, and most of all to Kerrie, for introducing me to bloggerville.

I am not sure, but I believe that there may be some law that you are suppose to do something special for your 100th post. Just because I work for the law, doesn't mean I always follow it. After all, I was once on the other side, and must visit occasionally. :o) So, tomorrow, I think I will do something for my 101st post. We will have a little "Miah 101." I bet you can't wait. Pay attention, because there may be a pop quiz.

I really wanted to BRAG about my little munchkin today. So I better not disappoint myself and dish. Almost daily, I take Colters little hands in mine and stand him on the floor. I then lean him forward a bit to see if he will take a step. Nada. I have been doing this for months. Yesterday, I did it yet again. As soon as his little feet hit the floor, he was off. It really caught me off guard. That's my boy! Shock and awe! It was very exciting, as I am sure all of you fellow mom's all ready know.

I also wanted to let you know that Colter (cross fingers) is back to his normal bedtime again. Thanks for all of your advice. I did try the fan, but it just was not doing much, so we put in a small window air conditioner (courtesy of Al's dad) and it seemed to help. Thanks for all of your advice ladies!

Have a superrific day!

9 month checkup

Colter had his 9 month checkup on friday. Every thing went well, and the Dr assured me that he is progressing normally. He officially now weighs 22.3 lbs and is 29 1/2 inches tall. Now that I think about it, he is almost 2 1/2 feet tall. I am not sure why I find this amusing, but I do.

This past week, Colter has figured out he can roll his way around. I found it exciting for about a 1/2 an hour. I am not sure why, but he keeps rolling over in his crib, then gets his leg stuck or his head smashed into the bars. He will then scream bloody murder until you come to his rescue, and as soon as you leave the room, he does it all over again. He is apparently hard headed like his mother, and it takes several whoopies before he figures out it may not be such a good idea. My momma always said someday I would have 10 just like me. Thanks for the curse!

I have been so spoiled up until this point. Colter has always been like clock work and ready for bed at the same time every night. It just so happened that it coincided with a perfect time for me to lay down to take a nap before work. He is normally in bed by 7pm and sleeping within minutes. This weekend, that went out the window. The past three nights, he acts really tired, but will just not go to sleep. If I hold him or bring him to my bed, he will eventually fall asleep, but as soon as I go to put him in his crib, he wakes right up and screams. Last night, he didn't go to bed until almost 10pm. And then he keeps waking up. I am not sure what to make of this, but I wonder if it is too hot for him. His room seems to be awfully stuffy. We do not have central air in the new place, but are definitely checking into getting it. What do you all think? Is it possible he is just really uncomfortable and that's why he is not going to bed?

There is one thing that is kind of cute about all of this hotness. (I am talking about my house people.) When Colter sweats, his hair gets curly in back and somewhat on top. It is pretty darn cute, but I also hope that is not a sign of things to come. Sorry dad, I love you, but I am not sure I want my kid to have hair like yours. You wear it well, (what little you do have) but I am not sure that Colter can pull it off. :o)

Have a super fabulous week ya'll!

My Nephew

I am the aunt (aka/stinky cheese beast) to a very cool little guy who sometimes answers to Brayden. Since the day he was born, I have mentored him. All though his parents probably wish at times I wouldn't, it is something I must do. (Big brother + pick on little sister= payback) Brayden is an exceptional student, and has put many of the wonderful things I have taught him to good use. But I fear I have much more to teach him.

On Sunday, my family was over helping us at the house. Brayden and Tanner were hanging out and having a good old time. At one point, my sis-n-law and I were up in Colters room, changing a stinky or something. She noticed the Hershey kisses on his dresser, (my secret stash) and took one. We finished what we were doing, and went back down stairs. A while later, I could hear some strange noises coming from the baby monitor. When I listened closer, I realized that Brayden was in Colter's room playing with some toys. No biggie. A couple of days later, I was in Colter's room picking up and I noticed a candy wrapper on the floor. I thought it was odd, because I was pretty sure my sis-n-law would not throw her wrapper on the floor. I threw it in the trash, and went to Colters drawer to get some clothes out. When I opened the drawer, there was a pile of candy wrappers in there. Ah-ha! I knew who the culprit was. Brayden had decided he wanted some candy and then hid the evidence. Silly boy. I am going to have to teach him to be a little bit more sneaky.

Brayden looks like a minnie me of my brother, and acts like a minnie me of me. I feel sorry for my sis-n-law. :o) I love being around him because I can act like a silly kid again. We have a great time. There is something so special about being an aunt. Its great being able to just let loose, spoil them, (send them home) and almost always be the good guy. I am so glad I get to be Brayden's aunt. He is so special to me! Love you turkey bird!

Ten minutes to Wapner

Dunna! Dunna! Peoples court!

Since I knew there was no way I would survive until Monday without cable, I decided to give dish network a try. They are suppose to come today to hook it up. "But", (don't you hate those?) there is the possibility that they may not make it. I am telling you this because you need to be warned. You should be on high alert this evening. Things could get real hairy if they do not get to my house.

As you all ready know, I am not your average bear. I am not like most, who have their favorite TV shows that they have to watch every week. You know, like you survivor lovers, CSI fans, etc. I have not watched a show faithfully, I would say, for at least 15 years. Sure, there are shows that I like to watch, but if I miss it, it is not the end of the world. However, I have found one show that I absolutely MUST watch. Everyone in our household knows, that when my show is on, you do not interrupt Mt. Momma. Unless you want to witness an massive eruption, it is best to wait until the show is over.

"My show", has not been on for over 6 months. They were suppose to start the new season after the new year, but continued to push the date back again and again. (I don't think these people realize how lucky they are that I do not know where to find them.) Finally, tonight, the new season is airing. These past 6 months have been torture, and if that darn instillation guy does not make it today, he will be tortured!! :o) And it will not just be by me. The whole community will want to join in, when they witness my melt down tonight. If I don't get cable, that crazy woman passing back and forth on your front porch, chanting "10 minutes to Ghost Hunters", is me. You may want to let me in, or you will have to watch the whole ugly mess unfold.

Please come today Mr. instillation guy!

Have a great Wednesday everyone!

9 month old cutie

Where oh where has the time gone?! Colter is 9 months old today. It is exciting, yet I am a bit sad. He is growing up way to fast. He will be 1 before I can blink my eye, kindergarten will be soon after, and before you know it, he will be off to college. (shudder) It is hard to believe that Tanner is 12, and will be graduating in 6 years. Colter will be just getting started in school and Tanner will be leaving. (shuddering more!)

Anyhow, my little man is a big bad 9 month old. He still drools, has no teeth, and does not crawl or stand. I know he could if he wanted to, and he will in his own time. He loves to chase the dogs while he is in his walker, and I do mean chase. He is fast! He also runs to mommy and rams her ankles when he wants me. Now that's love people. He will also pull my hair to get closer to me. Want a good pinch? No problem. Colter can help you out there. He is a talented little guy!

I love you little man!

There goes the neighborhood

We managed to get everything moved on Thursday and I spent my weekend cleaning and trying to find a home for the necessities. I didn't want to unpack to much, because we are going to be doing some major renovating. Al assures me that the downstairs will be done in time for Colter's 1st birthday. He has 3 months. That should be more than enough time, but with our conflicting schedules, it is difficult for us to do much together. It will be interesting.

As of right now, we do not have a stove or microwave. Luckily, my family made sure that we did not starve this weekend. My brother feed us chili dogs and steak, and my mom brought enough food to feed an army. If things work out okay, I am going to do a little shopping on Friday, after Colters 9 month checkup. Thank god for Internet, because I may have to order things that way. It would be easier for Al. That way he doesn't have to stress about whether or not he picked out the right one.

Speaking of Internet, my provider cannot get to my house to hook things up until next Monday. So I have been without phone, (thank god for cells) Internet, and cable since Thursday. I cannot stand much more of it. I may be in a straight jacket soon. I am not sure what on earth they did to pass the time back in the day before cable tv. I hate to admit that I am that dependant on it. I couldn't wait to come back to work and check the weather, my email and watch some TV!

I am sure anyone who has moved at some point in their life, knows it takes a while to get used to. My dogs are finally starting to calm down. They were making me crazy. As we were trying to sit around our midget sized table, that we had crammed into our old midget sized house, I looked around and could not believe how much room we still had. On Friday morning, I got the strangest feeling. It was almost like panic. I didn't know where everyone was. I started searching through the house and I couldn't find anyone. I eventually realized they were outside. It was a very strange feeling not knowing were someone was. In the old house, you always knew.

This is our midget table, in our dining room. We have a dining room!!! And a midget dining table! I think I will be looking for just a wee bit bigger dining table. Not to much though. It might not fit. :o)
Have a great day!
