Colter had his 9 month checkup on friday. Every thing went well, and the Dr assured me that he is progressing normally. He officially now weighs 22.3 lbs and is 29 1/2 inches tall. Now that I think about it, he is almost 2 1/2 feet tall. I am not sure why I find this amusing, but I do.
This past week, Colter has figured out he can roll his way around. I found it exciting for about a 1/2 an hour. I am not sure why, but he keeps rolling over in his crib, then gets his leg stuck or his head smashed into the bars. He will then scream bloody murder until you come to his rescue, and as soon as you leave the room, he does it all over again. He is apparently hard headed like his mother, and it takes several whoopies before he figures out it may not be such a good idea. My momma always said someday I would have 10 just like me. Thanks for the curse!
I have been so spoiled up until this point. Colter has always been like clock work and ready for bed at the same time every night. It just so happened that it coincided with a perfect time for me to lay down to take a nap before work. He is normally in bed by 7pm and sleeping within minutes. This weekend, that went out the window. The past three nights, he acts really tired, but will just not go to sleep. If I hold him or bring him to my bed, he will eventually fall asleep, but as soon as I go to put him in his crib, he wakes right up and screams. Last night, he didn't go to bed until almost 10pm. And then he keeps waking up. I am not sure what to make of this, but I wonder if it is too hot for him. His room seems to be awfully stuffy. We do not have central air in the new place, but are definitely checking into getting it. What do you all think? Is it possible he is just really uncomfortable and that's why he is not going to bed?
There is one thing that is kind of cute about all of this hotness. (I am talking about my house people.) When Colter sweats, his hair gets curly in back and somewhat on top. It is pretty darn cute, but I also hope that is not a sign of things to come. Sorry dad, I love you, but I am not sure I want my kid to have hair like yours. You wear it well, (what little you do have) but I am not sure that Colter can pull it off. :o)
Have a super fabulous week ya'll!

You weren't up with him until 10, were you? Who knows, really. He might be too warm. Do you have a fan in his room? Maybe get a small fan for him. The noise of a fan might help him as much as the cool air.
Glad to hear all is good with the little man! It is always a blessing to get a good report!
As far as sleeping, could be a growing spirt or cutting teeth. Sometimes when they are going through that it throws them out of wack. With it being to warm, I could see it if he was waking up in the middle of the night, but if he does it immediately, I question if it was to warm. Could be testing mommy too!!
Good luck with the curly hair! Micah has my lovely curls, boy is he going to hate me someday!!! Ha
Could be a combination of things...the heat, the new place, teething...It was right around 8-9 months that Alec started having troubles sleeping. It went on for a couple of months and then all of a sudden, he went back into his "normal" routine. Some people say that when a baby learns a new "trick" (rolling around), that can disturb sleep patterns. Who knows, though? It will pass...eventually! :-)
Glad to hear Colter's 9 month check up went good. Hopefully you'll figure out his sleeping issues...it might be because he's hot (I know us adults don't sleep well either when it's hot) but then again maybe he's getting a tooth or something (I'm just guessing...I have no experience in this sort of thing yet :)!!)
Have a great day Miah!!
I agree with all the ladies about Colter and his sleeping. The easy thing to do first is put the fan in there. He might really like the sound of it also! 9 months was about the time Marissa's sleeping routine fell apart and hers was from teething so that is a good possibilty.
I am so glad he is progressing well. Still hard to believe he is 9 months old.
Take care and stay cool or try. :)
I agree with everyone...try a fan. I have fans in both kid's rooms just for the "noise" Caymen slept HORRIBLE last night and I was wondering if it was because she was too cold. Sometimes with the doors shut...it gets chilly with the air on at night. She's due to cut some more teeth so I am just assuming that it was her deal is. WHO KNOWS...it seems like it's always something. GOOD LUCK and keep us posted!!
I am sure he will be just fine. Unless he like going into mom's bed and wants to keep doing that. I have one that have a high fever once and I put him in my bed for about three nights to make sure I could know how hot he was during the night. It was a very bad mistake. Three simple nights and that sweet little boy made me pay for it for a week or more. He just like it too much. I am sure it will pass if everything is alright with him , not too hot, nothing biting him, not hungry, not wet, not sleepy, pain somewhere. I will pray that he does alright. connie from Texas
