Bone Headed scare tactic

The following was an attempt to deter Tanner from doing something he shouldn't. It actually took place a few years ago, but I happened to think of it today, and thought I would share.

Tanner: What is that metal wire in your mouth? (Referring to my permanent retainer.)

Me: (Light bulb! Opportunity knocks.) They put that in your mouth if you are caught swearing.

Tanner: What for?

Me: (I am a genius.) Every time you swear, it gives you a shock on your tongue.

Tanner: Ouch! Why do you still swear a lot?

Me: (Um, Um, Um) Because I its been there for a long time and I am used to it now. (Smacks forehead. I guess that didn't work. Yep, your a real genius all right.)
