Colter's B-day Party

This past Saturday, was Colter's birthday party. It was honestly the first birthday party that I really planned, by myself from start to finish. I managed to pull it off, and I think I did all right. We had a small get together with family. Unfortunately, Grandma Judy & Grandpa Chuck could not be there, due to Al's stepsister getting married in TX. It would be nice to be able to get all of the family together, but it is just not feasible. Perhaps someday. A few of my aunts & uncles were able to attend, and it was so great to see them. I do not get to see them often, because we usually spend holidays with Al's family. I thought it was important for Tanner to be with his family, so holidays are usually planned around him. We are going to have to start to compromise now though.

For Colter's party, I just served munchies, cake & ice cream. I did not take one picture during the party. I was so busy making sure there was enough food out, greeting & chatting with everyone, trying to get Colter to open his presents, etc. I did manage to get a lot of video though. My brother was nice enough to record for a while. Thank god! I certainly hope that next time, things will not seem so chaotic. I am not sure how it is that I can dispatch mass chaos, but when it comes to a birthday party, I forget to take pictures. Ouy!

I purchased his cake at the local grocery store and I think they did a very good job. I am a huge fan of cake, so I ordered a cake that I thought would be more than enough. I was hoping to have enough cake left over, to take some to some family members who did not attend, but I must have cut the pieces way to big, because there was not much left. I was not willing to share. Sorry.
I had doggie bags for the kids, but wouldn't you know, I forgot about them until almost everyone left, so only a couple of kids got one. Al, the biggest kid of all, was tickled that I forgot, because that meant he got to take doggie bags to work.

Colter wants to say thanks to all for the birthday wishes. Also, thanks to all who made his birthday special and to those who helped out in some way. You guys are great!

From now on, you'll have to designate a "photographer" at the parties! Tanner could have taken pictures! :-)

Glad everyone had a GREAT time! The cake is really cute!! And looks YUMMY!!!

I am wondering if it is the 1st b-day syndrome. Where moms want everything to be perfect, even though the b-day boys or girls aren't going to remember it. So trying to make it perfect gets to be chaios. I know I was glad my daughter's was done and over with. And I was glad it only happens once a year. So I blame it on the 1st b-day syndrome. If I am rambling I am sorry I worked all nite. Kinda tired.

Anways the cake looks awesome, the doggy bags are adorable. You did good mom! Even if you didn't get alot of pics. You got video!

Cute cake and doggie bags!!

Birthdays are such a special time it is sad that we have to be so busy and running around. Believe me though, after the first one they get better.

Love the cake and doggie bags! What a great idea :)!! Sounds like the birthday party went very well and a good time was had by all! That was nice of your brother to video it for you guys.

I'm sure it'll get better. Those first birthdays I'm sure are a lot of hard work..just think in a few years you'll be a pro at the whole birthday party thing :)!

Have a great day Miah!!

I hear ya, everything is a blur. I look forward to having a smaller birthday party next time so that I can enjoy it too!

Glad Colter's first b-day was a success!!

You have to designate someone to take pictures and video. As a mom we just get to run around like chickens with our heads cut off. Cute treat bags and cake though!!! Even though they won't remember...we will and that is all that matters.
