One year checkup

Colter had his one year checkup and shots on Monday. He weighed 24lbs 12oz, and was 31 1/2 inches long. He has grown so much! The Ped said he was doing great and even called him a nosey little guy. I keep saying that Colter will be a house inspector or possible a dentist someday. Its always a relief to hear the Dr say that my child is progressing well.

His shots were a bit more traumatic this time than they have been in the past. He cried a few extra minutes this time. Usually, he seems to be over it within a minute. It honestly does not bother me when he gets them. I contribute some of that to when he was 6 weeks old and had to have surgery. They made me hold him down so they could draw blood. That was horrible. It was even worse, afterwards when he was coming out of his anesthesia. I hope I never have to witness anything like that again. I would take him to get shots any day over that.

Colter has started to stand, unassisted, for very long periods of time. He will only do it though, if he knows you are there for him to grab a hold of if he needs to. Perhaps it is a sign that he will walk soon?

For his birthday, we got him a laugh 'n learn house. He is obsessed with opening and closing doors, so this toy is a big hit. I think Al & Tanner kind of like it too. They have both played with it. Boys.

There is not much else to say. A lot of you had many questions about the bike incident. I will keep you updated if I find out anything. I hate to say it, but I am sure nothing will come of it legally. If we are looking for an outcome, we will probably have to take matters into our own hands. We have not spoke to the parents of the children involved yet. Its a real crappy deal. I hate to say it, but I am sure it didn't even faze this kid or mother, that the police were involved. These kids seem to have less and less respect for authority these days. I really hope that the situation will be made right, but I am not going to hold my breath. Its too bad that one has to just "suck it up and drive on." I also hate to inform you, that this type of thing happens all of the time here. And it is not just bikes. Its everything from flowerpots, to baby jesus'.....right Ker?! (I wonder if baby jesus was ever resurrected?)

Thats all folks! I hope you all have a fantabulous weekend!

Colter had surgery at 6 weeks? I didn't know that. You were a brave mother to hold your infant while they drew blood. Robert has always been the one to be there for that while I sat out in the waiting room and cried. I HATE that!! And coming out of anesthesia...Yikes!! We'll go through that again for Alec's sedated echocardiogram in November. NOT looking forward to it. :-(

I didn't know he had surgery either! Wow..
Shots, I really don't like them, I always make Craig come with, I just can't do it by myself. Last time Micah gave the nurse a death glare afterwards! it was funny, but I don't think the nurse appreciated my giggles! Glad all is good with Colter! He sounds like he is right on track! That is great!

Ok, you just popped my perfect little bubble that I live in! I was really trying to believe we lived in a quiet little town where all was great!! Dang it!!!

People steal things all the time in our lovely town. Most of the time it is Christmas decorations.

Glad to hear Colter is doing well. Shots are hard no matter HOW OLD they are. They are all smiley, happy one minute and the next they are screaming their head off looking at mommy wondering why the heck we let that happen. I had to hold Caymen down to draw blood too and they took forever! I told them that was enough with tears in my eyes and Mark was PISSED. They said we almost got it. They said "It makes her more mad that we're holding her arm down than it does that we are poking her". SAYS WHO!?!??! UGH!

Glad everything went well with the check up and Colter!! Still hard to believe that little cutie is 1 years old!!

I am sure you are right on the bike deal. Most kids take after their parents and I am sure that kid wasn't punished. Sad but so true!!

Shots can be no fun! I'm glad when my kids are done with theirs for years.

That bike situation is just maddening.

Glad to hear Colter's one year checkup went well. I'm sure shots are no fun (for either the child and the parents). One of my sister in laws said she cried more then my nephew did when he got shots! Sounds like Colter will be walking in no time too..how exciting :)!!

It's really too bad about the whole bike situation. I know it happens more around here then anyone realizes. It's amazing the things people will steal. I just can't get over it sometimes! But then again with the line of work we both are in..nothing really surpises us a whole lot anymore!

Have a great weekend!!!

Shots don't phase me. I look at it this way, I would rather they have the shot and a few min's of tears than to actually go thru the disease the shot is trying to prevent. It's about the only topic I'm very logical about.

I just read your last three posts, I'm a little behind the times. Love your humor on the story about your brother. I wish I could write like you. And, about planning bday parties. I planned my first daughters first bday for my house and did her 2nd at McDonalds. Best thing I ever did! At our McD's, we had 3 attendants and they kept the party going and did all the work. I was actually able to enjoy the festivities and got pic's and video. And best of all, I didn't have to clean my house...before or after. :0) Def. will do that again.
